Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
